Assignment #1
Class Preparation and Participation
Preparation before class and participation during, attending one-on-one meetings with the instructor (grade given in week 7 and 14); two short in-class presentations (graded individually) staggered through the semester. Attendance is a separate policy.
Assignment #2
Digital Stories and Personal Development
Digital stories such as a news article and how-to video(each about 500 words, 2 hours of self-directed learning, or a 3-5 minute video); reflections and reactions to readings (varying length and format); online Poynter Institute course completion (show verification for credit). Due throughout the semester.
Assignment #3
Midterm
Revised news article using an alternative story form. 500-750 words, due in week 7.
Assignment #4
Final Project
Culminating project. The class will decide the project and requirements. Length and media TBD. Due in Week 15.
